Some of you may know that since Cameron has started teething (which I know I've complained about a few times on here - sorry!), he hasn't been eating much. Let me rephrase that - he hasn't been eating anything. Taking bottles (we had to add two back into the routine) and eating Gerber puffs doesn't really count.
He developed an aversion to a) anything mushy, and b) anyone besides himself feeding him. I was getting a little concerned and called the doctor's office, but they just told me to watch him and to cut his pb and j sandwiches into circles so they're more appealing. Ugh! He can't eat peanut butter and has never had a sandwich so I don't think the shape matters. He's ELEVEN months! Anyway, they said if it's still going on next week to bring him in.
I've been giving him anything and everything so that maybe he'd eat (minus the food allergy offenders, of course). On Saturday he ate a cheese cube - yea! - why didn't I try that earlier? Yesterday at the State Fair, he had some nachos and french fries. Way to take it to the next level, huh? Tonight I did what I vowed I as a mommy would never do - I fed my child a meat stick. Not a hotdog, a meat stick. Sound gross? They are nasty. They smell and taste terrible - so much so that I gagged a little when I tasted it (I try everything that goes into the kids' mouths - only fair if I'm feeding it to them, right?). Needless to say, babies must have different tastes, and he loved it! He also loved the baby corn, carrots, water chestnuts (really just loved throwing those on the floor via the sneaky method of slipping it down his leg), and rice that we had for dinner (stir fry). I guess I was just babying him - but he's still a baby! Of course he did manage to dump the entire muffin tray of food over his head and smeared it in both eyes and started crying, but at least I've discovered the trick to getting him to eat! Now what am I going to do with the 35 containers of baby food I have left???
