Family Vacation 2008

Camping 2008

We just returned from a weeklong trip 'up north' to our family cabin, where we spent our vacation with my mom and dad. Everyone had a really good time and came back a little tan and very dirty (there's no shower - not even an indoor toilet!). The kids and I look like we have chicken pox after the mosquitoes and sand fleas got ahold of us, so we're super itchy, but the trip was worth it.

A few highligts included going to Lake Michigan, spending a whole day at a small, almost private lake on state land, and visiting an Elk Farm in Ludington. The kids really enjoyed themselves and had a fantastic time being in the great outdoors. Mackenzie really loved when her cousins (well, my cousin and her kids) showed up for the camping weekend - finally some kids to play with! Cameron also loved watching the older boys and trying to be a part of everything. Jason even did a fireworks show for us one night, with only a few near accidents :)

We are happy to be home, though. You should have seen that bathtub after I finished washing each of the kids - yucky!!! This week we jumped right back into summer with Mackenzie's Vacation Bible School (VBS) and Cameron's soccer camp. Calamine lotion has been a necessity, and we've almost gone through an entire bottle. And everyone's been sleeping very nicely in their own beds.
