my baby is one

I think I'll break this blog into three parts, so it's going to be a long one. First, I'll share some photos and moments from Cameron's first birthday, then on to his first birthday party, and finally what he's been up to now that he's an official one year old.

Cam Turns One!

Cameron had a great time turning one, minus a few 'incidents.' He fell into the refrigerator and got a nice little bruise/bump in the middle of his forehead and he fell backwards onto the entryway tile and screamed for quite some time. But, he did get a few gifts that he and Mackenzie both loved playing with, and he had his first cupcake. He didn't really care for it, but he did love playing in the frosting!
His First Birthday Party

We had Cameron's first birthday party out at Grandma Joy's, and he had a blast! Lots of munchies and his buddy Max was there to play with. His bud Laynee was there, too, but boy, what a difference a few months makes - she was all over the place. Cam was crawling around and Max was taking some tentative steps.

As for gifts, he was really into it, and even enjoyed looking at all the cards! I was surprised that he had so much interest in everything. He received many nice gifts and I think every construction themed shirt/outfit that there is.

At One He...
*says "uh oh" "hi Non (mom)" "hi dadadada"
*wants to feed himself and hates any mushy baby food - really wants to eat what everyone else at the table is eating

*loves Cleo and terrorizes her every chance he can get

*loves doggies and says "ooh" and points every time he sees one passing

*does not nap very well, but does sleep 12 hours straight through the night

*crawls like a mad man - especially loves going through tunnels or chasing his sister or the cat

*can't get enough button pushing - the phone (has to be a real one), remote, toys, etc

*could sit and open and close a drawer, sometime removing the contents, for hours, or until he slams his finger in it, which he's done quite a few times

*throws temper tantrums - full blown throw yourself on the ground kicking and screaming temper tantrums. Sometimes just because his bottle is empty.

He's quite the dramatic one, but also so sweet. He loves to bury his head into me for cuddles, or climb up my leg and give me smooches. Cameron loves his daddy, too, and greets him at the door everyday with a wave and a "Hi Dadadada!" Mackenzie's so good with him and tries to include him in the things she does since mostly he just wants to play with anything that's hers. We have a gate on her door to keep him out and away from Barbies, Littlest Pet Shop, etc, and when we leave it open he'll go over to it and swing it open and shut and just watch her play. I have to say that although this past year has been anything but easy, it's been wonderful. It's amazing that this little person can fill a void that you didn't even know existed - especially since I already have another little person filling a different spot! Cam is such an awesome little guy. I don't think I could have picked a better family if I tried :) Jason and I are very blessed.
