I decided to put some happy pics of Cameron on here because we just had a not so happy night. Yesterday Cameron was hospitalized due to severe dehydration. It was absolutely terrible. He's had a stomach virus since Monday (today's Thursday) and by Wednesday he was no longer drinking his bottle. We had been to the doctor Tuesday, and then back Wednesday when we were directly admitted to the hospital (thank goodness the office stayed open a little late for us so he could be seen by a doctor).
He had to get an iv, and since he was so dehydrated (and a little 'chunky' as the nurse put it), it took SEVEN tries to get the iv going. He was screaming for 45 minutes. Mackenzie stayed the night with Joy and Randy, so we didn't have to worry about her, but we were sharing a room with another little sick baby and there was barely room for one adult on each side of the curtain, so Jason went home about 11pm.
Cameron started crying around 11:30pm and didn't stop until 5:30am. He and I walked the halls for about 1 1/2 hours, and they moved us into a private room because he kept waking up his sick little 'roommate' who had the same thing he did but just wanted to sleep.
Finally around 5am they removed his iv because his arm and hand were swelling so badly from it and he started drinking Pedialyte. Once he started drinking it, he was sooo hungry, but we had to be careful that he didn't vomit. I gave him a little more, and of course he fell asleep in my arms just as Jason walked in the door around 5:30am (I waited as long as I could to call him back up there!).
He's doing ok now, taking pedialyte and sleeping. No formula until tomorrow, and that's only if his tummy calms down. But, he's happy and was playing when we got back here - just glad to be home I think. My arms are KILLING me (even though the poor baby lost weight, he's still a lug!) and I'm pooped, but I'm so glad he's feeling better and out of the hospital. It was a little tramatic for all of us.
