I had my first 'scare' with pregnancy today. I woke up around 3am with contractions that lasted all day, and were painful - very different from the Braxton-Hicks contractions I've been getting. I didn't feel like I was in labor, so I held out until about 11am and then called my doctor, who told me to proceed to the hospital asap. Mackenzie and I nervously waited for Jason to get home (I was instructed not to drive myself) and of course it's the one day that he's 45 minutes away instead of his normal 10 minutes.
Anyway, we got there and I was hooked up to the monitors. The baby was/is doing great, and we got another ultrasound done to check his position. I was having real contractions, but luckily they were not leading to labor. I was given the fFN test, which came back negative, meaning that I have less than a 1% chance of going into preterm labor in the next two weeks. I was also given an iv to rehydrate and a shot of terbutaline to slow down the contractions. They gave me a prescription of antibiotics to make sure I don't have an urinary tract infection (the test showed that I didn't, but better safe than sorry). I'm still getting mild contractions, but the fFN test is 99.5% accurate, so I'm not too concerned.
I see my doctor every two weeks now, so when I go in next week hopefully everything will look good!
